If you enjoyed riding the virgin woods sections at the Bent Handlebar enduro, and would like to thank the private land owners in the area who helped make it happen, please send an e-mail to Keith Alexander, Bent Wheels Competition Chairman.
Keith will be sure to pass your comments and feedback onto the land owners so that additional enduros can be put on in the future, and we can expand into additional acreage for even more ground miles next year!

Thank Land Owners

Event flyers for the Bent Wheels / M.O.R.E. enduros are posted! Preregistration is available for the Sunday event (cut-off date is June 15th). Additional info from the club:
In the 40 year history of the Bent Wheels, many Enduros have been run out of Rose City, MI. It's been a while, but in partnership with M.O.R.E. and FES, Inc., the Bent Wheels are back!
On June 20 and 21, 2009 the Bent Handlebar Classic will be run out of Rose City, MI. This is a points paying event for D-14 & D-15 and the Family Enduro Series. The event will be run entirely on private property with some very good new sections of virgin trail (notice the name of the event!) A full-on motocross section is also included (1.2 miles around the groomed track). Several great spectator segments will be easily accessible as well.
There will be one gas stop. Support and spectator maps will be available the day of the event. The event will begin and end on the club property in Rose City using a restart format. This is a perfect event for motocross bikes as no timekeeping equipment will be required. USFS spark arrestors, ORV stickers, and a 96db sound limit are part of the requirements for the D-14 / D-15 event on Sunday 6/21/09. The FES Enduro on Saturday does not require AMA or D-14 membership.
There will be free camping onsite with fresh water available and pit toilets. Bring the family or your vintage bike for the Saturday ride and make it full weekend! See the flyers for more info.

Unfortunately, the Mosquito Classic and Baby Buzzard enduros have been canceled. Here is the message from the club:
Hi Guys,
For many reason, (Road Construction on Harrison Ave, sickness within the Heber family, Time constraints, loss of property, and many other smaller details) we will be unable to promote a successful Enduro this year. We regret to inform all of you that we will NOT be putting on a family event or an adult event which had been scheduled for July 11th and 12th. Please remove us from the schedule and pass the information along to all interested parties. We have enjoyed our run of 16 years sponsors events. The motorcycle community is one of the greatest that we've had the chance to work with. Yet for many reasons, we will essentially be done with events for many years. Perhaps we will have the opportunity to return in the distant future. Once again, thanks for the fun, but until further notice we will no longer be putting on events.
Sincerely,
Jamie Lipovsky
Buzzard Motorcycle Club President

Just a reminder that the FES Arbor Day Enduro is being held in Kalkaska, MI this Saturday, 4/25, with tree planting on Sunday, 4/26.
The weather is looking to be spectacular for a ride in the woods with your kids! There are only little patches of snow left, and the recent melting has left the sandy ground nice and moist.
Recommended route to staging area: From the west, take County Road 612 east and turn right (south) onto Blue Lake Road. From the east, take County Road 612 west (exit #264 off I-75) and turn left (south) onto Blue Lake Road. Once on Blue Lake Road, follow signs to the staging area. Click for Map
Note: Blue Lake Road is unpaved and can be a rough ride - you do not want to drive it for 5-6 miles coming from M-72 to the staging area.

The Grand Kankakee Trail Riders event for April 19th is asking ALL spectators and support crews to please not park on roads or tie up traffic on any of the roads. They had a little bit of a hard time with obtaining the road use permit this year and have been warned that if there is any kind of trouble on the roads this year the permit will not be issued again. This is not just for the April race, but will affect the summer Hill & Gully race as well. The club will have special free territory flags so riders will be able to reset at all the resets and just ride down the roads at the posted speed, and turn off the roads without the worries of a check. This is to keep even the riders off the roads. PLEASE lets all work together to keep this and future events alive alive in this area.
The club has also requested that ALL bikes have headlights and taillights mounted. They do not want to see flashlights, bicycle lights, small number plate lights, etc. This is to ensure that all bikes appear to be "legal" and to ensure no problems on the roads. Please comply with this request so we can continue to have enduros in this area; we can't afford to lose anymore enduros!

FYI - For any Michigan enduro that is using county roads, in a county that has adopted the new PA 240 ordinance, and is only using private property (no DNR permits), you will need a Michigan DNR ORV sticker to be legal on the roads.
